A Case of Perineal Endometriosis at the Site of Episiotomy Scar.

Abstract

The incidence of endometriosis at the episiotomy site is quite rare. We have experienced a case of perineal endometriosis over a 4-year period. The typical clinical history and local findings enable us to make the correct diagnosis of a case. The treatment of choice is complete surgical excision of endometrial tissue and usually obtains permanent cure. The entire endometrial mass must be removed, but recurrence is likely to take place. The possible pathogenesis of endometriosis and various modality of treatment were also discussed.
